MLM Prospecting Tip- 3 Questions To Hit A Prospect’s White-Hot Nerve
MLM? HAH!
No one in my family had ever even managed a business for someone, let alone owned one. Not my mother or father, no aunts or uncles, no grandparents … NOBODY! Every last one of them worked for somebody else, trading their time for someone else’s money. Don’t get me wrong. There were a lot of hard-working, responsible people in the group. A bunch of “employees of the month.” Not a shirker in the lot of them.
And not a single one that ever took vacation time unless it was OK with their boss!
So the only expectation I had growing up - and the expectation of every member of my family - was that I would go to school and then get a job. And I did. I had a lot of jobs over the years, because one of the things I discovered about myself was …
I was definitely not going to continue the family tradition of “Employee of the Month”.
I didn’t like being told what to do, and I didn’t like being told when to do it. More than anything, I hated doing stuff that wasn’t any fun.
At one particularly bleak point in my income history, I got a job driving a bus. And for 16 years, I drove the S-bus, up and down Collins Avenue on Miami Beach, between downtown Miami and Aventura Mall. I worked 9 hours a day. Two or 3 times a week, I pulled a double shift, to earn extra money. Cheryl & I had a growing family, and you know how much that can cost.
But more and more, something was really bothering me. The more money I earned, the more my life disappeared. Some nights - I know this sounds crazy, but some nights after working a double shift, I didn’t even go home. I’d pull back into the bus barn at 2 am from my second shift and sleep on a bench for 3 or 4 hours before going out for the next day’s work.
What a life! Does any of that sound familiar?
The problem with your job is, you get paid only when you work. Don’t work, you don’t get paid. Wouldn’t it be great if you got paid whether you work or not? Believe me, THAT is my kind of job!
In MLM, you can eat and get paid. You can sleep and get paid. You can go to Hawaii for 2 weeks and get paid. I know, I know, it sounds ridiculous. But it’s true.
And it’s not just owning your own business. In most cases as a business owner, you don’t dare leave the business. No telling what will be left when you come back. In MLM, you have no employees, no warehouse, no store, no office, no inventory. And it will all still not be there when you get back.
My wife’s rose bushes grow whether she watches over them or not. Why not our bank account?
I failed for a long, long time, trying to make several MLM businesses work. I chose wrong companies and made bad decisions, and I absolutely could not sell anything to anyone. My family considered me the “black sheep”, of course.
But I had to keep trying, because I absolutely hated having a boss. And I hated trading time for money, because it’s such a bad, bad trade. Why? Because it means someone else is profiting way more than you for the hours you work. I can’t begin to tell you how much that thought ticks me off. How about you?
What if, instead, you found an existing system that delivered - on autopilot - a product a lot of people want? Because it’s on autopilot, you don’t actually need to tend to the system. And because the product is so much in demand, your customers - that is YOUR job, finding customers - they gladly continue paying for the product month after month after month. They don’t care - they probably don’t even know - that you aren’t there watching over the system.
One of the neatest features of this system is that each month, you start at last month’s income level and go up! As you add new customers, your monthly income level increases. Better yet, some of your customers tell their friends about the product, and your income level increases from that, too.
Who in their right mind would choose to trade money for time …
… rather than build this automatic network marketing product-delivery system?
There are a lot of people besides me who have a white-hot nerve here, and who will respond quickly if you touch it. Just ask them 3 questions:
1. How do you like having a boss to answer to all the time, always there to tell you when you’re doing something wrong?
2. If you could do anything in the world to earn a living, would you choose the job you have now?
3. The term “wage-slave” is not a joke. How do you like the thought that someone else profits more than YOU do from your own work?
Do you think these people would be interested in earning money while they’re out having dinner with their family? I’ll bet they would.
Unfortunately, “having a job” is a mindset that is brainwashed into most of the population at an early age. But if you take this MLM prospecting tip and push these buttons hard, you will find that some people can be de-programmed and will get very motivated to change their life. Those are people you can build a future with.
